Worker rights go too far say employers

[13th April 2007]

Research by a well respected business "think tank" known as The Tenon Group, has confirmed that business owners and managers are fearful of the onerous nature of workers rights in the UK and Europe.

In a press release that is unlikely to exude much sympathy with the general public, business leaders and owners have bemoaned the increasingly onerous nature of employees rights in the UK.

With stringent health & safety laws and new pieces of legislation such as the Age Discrimination Act, there is an enormous pressure placed on employers to spend more time and money on compliance. May businesses are flouting the discrimination laws because they believe that they are unlikely to be exposed and in order to comply fully, their business may suffer.

In a direct quote from the research:

"Entrepreneur think tank The Tenon Forum reveals that 70 per cent of UK entrepreneurs feel that the balance of power has been shifted too far in favour of the employee. The legislation has added to a raft of government initiatives including paternity rights and sexual orientation"

Nevertheless here at Claimrights we are fully supportive of any legislation that protects workers and empowers them to fulfil their lives. A workplace should be safe the playing field level. The benefits gained by employers in embracing these legislative changes are far outweighed by any negatives. If you find yourself suffering an injury in an accident at work - you may be entitled to claim compensation. Speak to us today about a possible claim.
